Abstract

This paper delves into the unique methodological approaches utilized in the compilation of the HSG idiomatic dictionary. By contrasting it with other established idiomatic dictionaries, we identify its distinct characteristics, underpinned by corpus-based analyses, especially using data from EUROPARL. The study highlights the importance of considering multiple equivalents based on varying usage contexts and the inherent challenge of accounting for cultural nuances. The paper further offers recommendations for enhancing the methodology of idiomatic dictionary creation, drawing insights from the analysis of HSG.
